Dr. Marlene Schoen is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in children, adolescents, individuals and couples psychotherapy for over twenty five years.
She was the Clinical Director of the Santa Clarita Child and Family Development Center. She supervised psychology interns, provided individual and family therapy, community educational outreach programs for schools, and conducted groups for teens, single parents and divorced parents.
Dr. Schoen's psychological orientation is Interpersonal Psychotherapy. She integrates cognitive, behavioral, mindfulness and psychodynamic theories. Her approach focuses on how thoughts and feelings affect an individual's behavior based on their genetic and environmental experiences and history. Dr. Schoen received her Ph.D. from UCLA in 1986.
Dr. Schoen's therapy focuses on how individuals can develop healthy and unhealthy behavioral and emotional patterns derived from childhood, adolescent and adult experiences, in addition to inherited genetics. She believes that at times, these behavioral habits can cause discomfort when outcomes are not successful and that learning how to alter thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and utilize mindfulness stress reduction to create positive consequences enhance an individual's self-esteem, happiness, and productivity.
Dr. Schoen is involved in educational community outreach and specializes in relationship and parenting issues, divorce, loss, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, infertility, and life transitions concerns.
She has private practice locations in Beverly Hills and Woodland Hills.
